Charlie Ritchie

(Canada)

Charlie manages iCan International Education and teaches its professional courses. He has a Master’s of Science in Engineering and has had many years in managing NGOs and in the corporate world. He speaks four languages and is an avid lifelong learner.

Bernard Lee

(Singapore)

Bernard Lee, our Academic Director holds an MA in English and Linguistics from the National University of Singapore. He also has a post-graduate Diploma in Education (Distinction) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. Additionally, Bernard holds an Instructor’s Certificate – Principles and Methods of Teaching Spoken English, which qualifies him to train teachers of English to teach spoken English. As a licensed teacher, Bernard has taught a number of years in the Singapore school system to secondary school students. He has also trained pre-service and in-service teachers of English. In more recent years, Bernard taught English to Vietnamese government officials (including Directors and Deputy Ministers) in a special international programme established between the governments of Vietnam and Singapore and conducted by the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Finally , between 2009-2011, Bernard conducted special English courses for scholars from ASEAN, India and China under the prestigious A*Star and Ministry of Education Scholarship schemes of Singapore.

Betty Ritchie

Betty Ritchie

(Canada)

Betty has been teaching for 25 years and has taught all ages from preschool to older adults. She has a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelor in both Physical Education and Elementary Education. She taught English in Hanoi Vietnam at the Lycee Francais Alexander Yersin for several years. She also started a co-operative home school while in Hanoi. When in Canada she taught for many years in the public school system and has worked with children with special needs. For several years she also worked as a Family and Play Therapist.
In 2011 she returned to Vietnam to help open iCan International Education in Danang Vietnam. She has worked there as the Academic Director and an English teacher at the school and in Hotels around the Danang area. She currently is the Master Trainer and Director of the INTESOL Worldwide Program in Vietnam as well as all of the Children’s programs at iCan International Education. She greatly enjoys teaching students.

Ruth J Fuentespina

(Philippines)

Ruth has a BEd. specializing in TESOL. She has taught in the Philippines (2002-2005; 2006-2007), Japan (2005-2006), China (2007-2012) and Vietnam (2013 to the present). She has variously been an ESOL teacher to pre-school and elementary school children, high school and university students, and working adults in various industries especially hotel and hospitality. She has conducted TESOL/TEFL teacher training in the Philippines and China. She has also held the post of Head teacher and Educational Consultant in China. Ruth is often mistaken for a Vietnamese and causes many to wonder at how it could be that a Vietnamese can speak American English with such a flawless accent.

Lilian Lee

(Singapore)

Lilian has a BA (Hons) in English from the National University of Singapore. She also holds a post-graduate Diploma in Education (Distinction) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, and was the valedictorian and top graduating teacher trainee for 1983. Additionally, Lilian was part of a select team of pioneer teachers tasked to train the brightest pupils of Singapore in the Gifted Education Programme. As such she was sent for training at the Post-graduate Education Programme in Michigan State University. Lilian also completed post-graduate courses in education at Harvard University. Finally, Lilian holds an Instructor’s Certificate – Principles and Methods of Teaching Spoken English, which qualifies her to train teachers of English to teach spoken English. As a licensed teacher, Lilian has taught many years in the Singapore school system, from secondary school students to university undergraduate and post-graduate students. Lilian has also designed and conducted professional writing courses for companies like General Motors. She is also a multi-talented musician and plays the piano, the guitar, the ‘cello and the drums.
